The earliest wind bells were crafted from bronze.
In Japan, they were hung at the corners of temples and homes to ward off evil spirits and misfortune.
As their popularity grew over the centuries, artisans started crafting them from more affordable materials like iron and glass to meet demand.
Today, they are known as furin (風鈴) and are believed to bring a cooling effect in the summer, thanks to their gentle tinkling sounds.
They are often suspended in drafty windows and on balconies.
For our version, we chose to return to traditional materials while retaining the modern, bulbous shape.
